Hypnotherapy can help by turning your attention deep within toward your inner resources that can help you make the changes you want. By accessing the part of your mind below your level of awareness, you can shift on a core level of the problem.
How does it work?
Hypnotherapy is a calm therapeutic process. You are guided into a relaxed state through things like deep breathing and body relaxing. There may be a guided visualization. You are encouraged to think about experiences and situations in positive, healing ways that can help you change the way you think, feel and behave.
Is it safe?
Yes. It’s a guided process where you ease into a trance-like state, and your awareness is heightened. It may be a light trance, like when you are driving or absorbed in a good book or even your own thoughts. Or it may be a deeper level meditative type state. You may or may not go deeper. But you don’t have to be in a deep trance to get the benefits of hypnotherapy. And either way, it is generally very relaxing.
There are a lot of myths about Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy. But unlike stage or movie hypnosis, which are dramatized for entertainment purposes, you will not be unconscious or out of control of yourself. You can still respond to anything that might need your attention. And your unconscious mind will only act upon the suggestions that are beneficial to you, and aligned with the therapeutic goals we set.

Evidence-based.
There are a lot of studies on how Hypnotherapy helps. It has been shown to improve deep, restorative sleep by as much as 80%. It can effectively reduce physical pain and make surgery recovery faster. And people who undergo Hypnotherapy tend to lose significantly more weight than those who undergo CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy). Just to name a few.
We often expect the conscious mind to do all the work of solving life’s problems. And this can lead to burnout from too much ‘efforting.’ With hypnotherapy, we can use a mindful approach to work on stuck points less directly with the power of positive suggestion.
Does it work Virtually?
Yes. Since you are guided inward, often with eyes-closed, there is nothing to see or respond to in your environment. My clients often report that they not only enjoy this process in the comfort of their own home or environments, but even prefer it. It is offered by phone or video conferencing.
